A Slasher Dating Simulator (soft-release) is out now!
We'd love to hear your general feedback of what we got to show you! As this is a beta version, there may be bugs and grammar/spelling issues, if you do come across any, it would be a great help to know what they are.
We do acknowledge (and plan that) a large chunk of it needs to be expanded upon or redone, so we'd also like to know your opinions on the story, pacing, characters or anything at all that you'd like to comment on or think could use some improving.
As mentioned in a previous devlog, there was plans to add mini games (at least 1 in this demo)... and as it turned out, that didn't end up fitting in in time. The minigame coder has gone off the radar... Which leads me to ask: if you or someone you know can code minigames in Ren'Py and would like to be part of this project, please contact us on twitter (@SlasherSim), we'd love to have you join the team!

hello! i hope you don't mind a bit of feedback on the UI design. overall i thought everything looks great already, good art, good music, writing was well too.
However i do think that the save/skip/etc buttons are too small, having both icon & text inside the small buttons make it difficult to read, i suggest either eliminating the text altogether (since the icons already speak for itself) or make them slightly bigger for better reading
I was wondering if there will be a text box as well for the dialogs? Adding a thick stroke to the text does help with readibility but on the bold texts it does get a bit chunky (and hard to read..). It would help make the slasher portraits appear less jarring too whenever they appear during their dialogs (because it's the exact copy of the sprites twice, which is fine! but yeah, a bit jarring). During the naming part as well i didn't realize i had to start typing my name, i think a little blinking typing thing would make a nice signifier that we could start typing
i think that's all for now. i hope this doesn't seem too out of line, i'm pretty excited at the idea of a slasher dating sim and i'd love to see everything finally come together! Great job on the game so far and i hope the project will run well in the months to come! much love, s.

We will be updating the UI slightly as we're also upgrading the game to be in 4k.
There already is a textbox too, it is a transparent black overlay, it's more noticeable when you see how it looks without it. (by pressing H to hide the UI) I was going to make it darker, but personally I liked it being more transparent so the background art was more visible.
We are still experimenting with the side images too, we may end up removing them all together if a good looking solution doesn't come up. Hopefully we can also find a better and more obvious look for typing in names, but that was how Ren'Py did it and I'm not entirely sure if there's a way to change it (we'll find out sooner or later)

I really expected it to be more of a in the middle of getting murdered that you would have to charm Jason. Didn't expect him to be peaceful at the start. Great game though.
The soft-release was really well done! Definitely has me pumped for the full release! Is there any possibility of increasing the member places for the Slasher supporters on the kofi account? I'd really love to support further development!
this game was so fun too play, the art was amazing and the music was beautiful, i love how some options where really funny, i would of liked it too be longer but it was great for a demo, i cant wait for everyone else to come out. <3
